Rembrandt Frerichs:
Rembrandt Frerichs is known for his work as a jazz pianist with a deep appreciation for world music traditions. His inventive approach includes using historical instruments, such as a custom-built fortepiano modeled after Mozart’s. For this concert, Frerichs will perform on the harpsichord, adding depth to the early music repertoire he interprets with Lohmann.
Frerichs’ unique artistic vision fosters unexpected connections and collaborations, blending elements from jazz, classical, and Middle Eastern traditions. His approach to improvisation—“There is nothing more thrilling than blending centuries of musical tradition into a single moment”—demonstrates his passion for exploring musical diversity.

Musicians such as Liza Ferschtman and Rick Stotijn have embraced his innovative take on classical music. His collaborations include projects with Holland Baroque, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, and the Nederlands Kamerorkest. In 2021, he premiered a piano concerto commissioned by members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Antoinette Lohmann:
Antoinette Lohmann, a baroque violinist from Amsterdam, has a broad musical range, performing everything from Argentinian tango and salon music to folk and contemporary compositions. Specializing in historical instruments, Lohmann’s repertoire spans from the early Baroque to the 21st century. She has a particular interest in lesser-known instruments like the viola d’amore and viola pomposa.
In 2008, she founded Furor Musicus, an ensemble focused on early music, producing unique recordings like her reconstruction of a Bach viola concerto. Her dedication extends to teaching at the Utrecht Conservatorium and promoting early music in South Africa.
