Music in the Castle 2025 “A musical candy store for all music lovers”
On February 16, a winter Sunday, the historic estate Oud Poelgeest in Oegstgeest will be filled with the warm sounds of music in all styles. Then, ‘Music in the Castle’ will take place, a unique event that is celebrating its third edition this year.

On February 16, a winter Sunday, the historic estate Oud Poelgeest in Oegstgeest will be filled with the warm sounds of music in all styles. Then, ‘Music in the Castle’ will take place, a unique event that is celebrating its third edition this year.
Music does not only sound in the beautiful halls of the seventeenth-century castle, where Herman Boerhaave once enjoyed his garden. The neo-Gothic chapel from 1857, the orangery, the cozy gardener's house and the restaurant in the coach house will also be filled with sounds from all kinds of music genres.
This year, there are more than twenty musicians, bands and companies performing in six different time slots at one of the eleven locations on the Oud Poelgeest estate. The choice is great, and that makes this music festival so special in its kind. There is something for everyone: Blues, baroque, pop, classical, soul ... all styles have their place in the extensive program.
Enthusiastic visitors of previous festivals know how difficult it is to choose. Do you choose a performance by a dazzling pop choir (Pepperoni), a classical baroque ensemble (La Tempesta), Klezmer music (Aldert and Emilie Prast), or an act by rock chick Leontien Redhouse, a quatre mains performance by MiMoSa or singer-songwriter André Hazel?
"Our atmospheric festival should give visitors the feeling of being a kid in a candy store," says organizer Willemijn van Weeren enthusiastically. "Everywhere on the estate you can enjoy performances every half hour, brought by both professional musicians and talented amateurs." This special festival offers visitors the unique opportunity to explore the estate and the castle, surrounded by music. Beforehand, they can enjoy a lunch in the cozy restaurant, while after the last notes of the closing jam session, the evening can be perfectly concluded with a delicious winter dinner.
We are happy that we can go even bigger this year thanks to our co-host LEVEN! Magazine and Cultuurfonds Oegstgeest, Fonds 1818 and the Stichting Erfgoed Oud Poelgeest and six other sponsors,” says Willemijn.
The castle is not wheelchair accessible
