Panel Discussion
Should Nature be given Rights?
Should nature have its own rights?
The idea that nature should have its own rights is gaining support around the world. But is granting nature rights the best way to shape a new relationship between humans and nature?
What if nature were given legal rights? Could states or companies sue rivers for flooding, for example? And is there a risk that ecosystem rights could disadvantage indigenous communities, who are often at the heart of these ideas?
Join us for the LeidenGlobal panel discussion with a range of experts and activists to discuss these questions and challenges. The discussion will be held in English.
