Marekerk
One of the first churches built especially for the Reformed congregation, between 1639 and 1649.
This octagonal church was built as one of the first churches for Protestant worship, between 1639 and 1649, and was designed by city architect Arent van 's-Gravensande. The portal from 1659 is by Jacob van Campen. Inside is a pulpit from 1649. The organ, built in 1560 and enlarged in 1629, was moved from the Pieterskerk in 1733. The Mare is a former peat river, now partly filled in.
