The Dune & Sea Route (33 km of cycling through Leiden, Wassenaar and Katwijk) takes you past the loveliest areas of natural beauty and many places of interest. You can cycle through the Hollandse Duinen national park, for example, and enjoy a beach walk via one of the many beach entrances along the way.

Towing barges were the public transport of the 17th century, and Leiden and Oegstgeest formed a key interchange in the towing barge network. The Haarlem tow-canal was built in 1656, and people would leave from here for Haarlem and Amsterdam.

On the Landscape route (30 km of cycling through the municipality of Teylingen), you will see and experience the Dutch polders. Cycle through the Boterhuispolder, which is more than 400 years old, gaze out over the Vrouw Vennepolder, and spot the many meadow birds.
