Follow in the footsteps of Jan Wolkers, known for his novels Return to Oegstgeest and Turkish Delight. The 6 km-long Wolkers walking route takes you past a number of places in Oegstgeest where Jan Wolkers lived, played, went to school and worked.

The Boerhaave cycling and walking route was created to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the birth of Herman Boerhaave (31 December 2018). The route starts at Oud-Poelgeest Castle and takes in such sites as the house where Boerhaave was born in Voorhout, the Boerhaave museum and the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden.

Leiden has no fewer than 35 historic courtyards (hofjes). Anyone unsuspectingly opening a door between two houses can suddenly find themselves standing in one of these beautiful courtyards! Every courtyard has its own story, and many are still lived in today. It is possible to visit almost all of the courtyards, but please do take account of the residents.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, wealthy city-dwellers founded more than twenty country estates in Voorschoten. Six still remain today. The walking tour takes you past five of these country estates, which form green oases of tranquillity between the residential areas.

A walking route through the Hollands Duin dune range to the south of Katwijk. A wonderful, varied route between open dunes and ancient field systems. Dogs are permitted on a leash between 15 March and 15 August.
